Our Precious Nature

What would our nature be like without the birds, bees pollination, fresh air, clean water, the wildlife, the fishes, forests, plants and crops? We would have a silent, desolate, ugly and also a hungry world. So far, still we have a rather clean environment in some places, still we are able to hear the birds singing, still there are bees pollinating, the air is not completely destroyed by emissons everywhere, the water is still drinkable in many countries, the wildlife is not yet exterminated, fishes are still in many oceans, forests still exist,  plants and crops still grow. Sadly, I have to say, our precious nature is in a severe crisis.
The crise began a long time ago, when welfare increased, and man thought nature was indestructable. All that rubish and plastic dumped from large ships, looting of natural resources, predatory fishing from huge vessels, predatory hunting of wildlife, cutting out rainforests, poisons dumped in the wild and into rivers, pesticides on the crops which effects the pollination from the bees and insects.
For thousands of years, humans have lived in harmony with nature, now it's money and profits that prevail. The idea of preserving nature for future generations no longer exist. The rich, in all parts of the world, are getting richer, and they live luxury lives at the expence of nature and future generations. More and more people are getting richer and they want the good of life, too.

It is not bad or a crime to want better living conditions, but it is important to think about future generations, and not just in short term. What legacy do we want to give our children and grandchildren? Prosperity cannot continue to accelerate infinitely, one day it will stop, one way or another, unless we make a course change. Who is willing? Am I? Are you?

Things that can reduce the bad effects are few, but maybe drastic for some groups. In order to have success, it needs to begin with the all the authorities in every country, supported by the grass roots, too.
  1. Family Planning. Perhaps a provocative solution, especially in countries with a culture where many children are important for a religion, or a society which believes that many children are needed for their livelihood.
  2. Reduced Consumption. Easy to say, but difficult to accomplish in a modern society based on profits.
  3. Pollution Controls. That is not an easy goal to achieve for a poor country, who want the same level of living conditions as richer countries.
  4. Habitat Protection. It wouldn't be difficult to accomplish that, but still too little is done, so far.
