The Universe, the Earth, the humans, and life itself, are miraculous. I would like to begin with a quote by the well-known scientist Albert Einstein(1879-1955):
Today, it became quite obvious to me, that spring is approaching in my country. The daylight starts earlier and evening darkness comes later. The sounds of the birds change, especially the great tits melodies are changed into another tunes. For me this is a familiar sign, I've heard it since my childhood in the North of Sweden. Even though there still were hugh masses of snow left, I couldn't be mistaken, spring was coming in a few months.
The changes of the seasons are themselves a true wonder. In winter nature stands ready, the buds on the trees are already there, and when the time is right, they unfurl their leaves. This cycle of the seasons continue as they always have. In the northern hemisphere with cold and snow in the winter, sun and heat in the summer. In the warmer southern hemisphere, monsoon rain and typhoons occur frequently, as they always have done in the history of mankind.
The human miracle, evolves in Africa for about 200 000 years ago, when, what we call the modern man, began its journey. About 100 000 years ago we began migrating across the globe. Our population remained low, probably less than 1 million people.
With the advent of farming, growth raised up, for about 10 000 years ago, and by AD 1, the world population reached approximately 170 millions in all. Below is a list over the periods when the population grew larger:
- The Roman Empire and Han Dynasty had together 1 million people. during their time of reign.
- The Silk Road had an importance for the population, and at the time they were at least 181 million in the entire world.
- The Golden Age of India, the world population were around 178 million.
