Humanity - We Are A Miracle 2

As I pointed out yesterday; whether we live as nothing is a miracle or we live as if everything is a wonder, we just only have to watch the huge Universe, our remarkable Earth, nature's beauty, and then feel reverence and humility about the fact, that we are the human miracle in all this.
Every step taken, in the history of mankind, led us forward in our development. Whether it has been good or bad, the progress continued, and still do. Unfortunately, we don't seem to be wiser, otherwise we would have done differently, especially while it was possible to do some change.
I will now continue from yesterday, with the various civilizations that had an impact in our history:
  • At The peak of The Mayan  Civilization, the Earth reached 177 millions of people.
  • When gunpowder was invented, the population was 218 millions.
  • The Navigation Compass was a progress, in the 1000-1100 Century. Now the population was 294 million.
  • With The Mongol Empire, we were 365 million on Earth.
  • Bubonic Plague decreased the population to 362 million.
  • When The Europeans arrived in America, the poulation in the world reached 413 million.
  • By the time of The Transatlantic Slave Trade, we were 461 million.
  • Only a couple of hundred years later, by The Industrial Revolution, the population reached 862 million.
  • At the time of The World Wars, we are 1,9 billion.
Modern technology and medicin bring faster growth. If the current trend continues, global population will peak at 11 billion around 2100. Growth is slowing because of average fertility rates are falling in many countries. If fertility forecasts are slightly off, our peak population will peak even lower(1 1/2) or maybe higher with(2 1/2). In  1950 - 5 babies/woman  Prediction 2100 - 2 babies/woman.
It took 200 000 years for our population to reach 1 billion, and only 200 years to reach 7 billion. As our population has grown, so has our use of Earths resources. The choices we make today, effect the future of our species - and all life on Earth. Some of the things that can change the bad effects are:
Family Planning, reduced consumption, pollution controls and habitat protection. Are we really ready for a change?
