When you write, you don´t have to take it too seriously. Play a little and take chances! Why don´t you take a sentence from a news article and combine it with the first sentence in a novel or a cook book. It can be hilarious. But the goal is to make you fearless and to dare to make mistakes.
There is an old saying within the art of writing. Don´t tell, but show! That means that you avoid to tell the reader about anger, honesty, truth, hate, love or grief. You need to show the reader what made you or the character in the novel angry, sad or happy. The reader want to feel the emotions, how the anger, grief or hate feels. Don´t tell what the reader should feel, instead you need to show the situation and the feeling that was born. The writer grabs the reader´s hand and leads him or her through the valley of joy and sorrow., without mention these words.
If you write about a child´s birth, you need to describe what you actually see. The mother´s face, the child pushing out and all the energy that is behind this. The reader will understand without you discussing the nature of life. When you write, remain in connection with your sences and what you write about.
